Turning aspiration into action. The Grey Fox approach to mentoring.
While ‘manifest’ may be the Cambridge Dictionary’s Word of the Year, at Grey Fox we much prefer turning thoughts into actions.
And, with research showing that 67% of businesses report an increase in productivity due to mentoring, and 97% of those with a mentor saying they are valuable, rather than ‘hoping’ to achieve your outcomes, why not make them happen instead?
Over the past few years, we’ve been asked several times to act as mentors to members of in-house comms teams; and we’re really proud of how their confidence, skills and outputs have improved with our partnership.
Among our recent mentees is Amy from My Home Life England, a brilliant organisation working to transform the care home sector. We started working together on a strategy which then led to a period of mentorship, over the course of several months.
“Ben from Grey Fox supported us to develop a marketing strategy, with the goal of boosting awareness of our work amongst our key audiences and demonstrating our impact within the health and social care sector.
Ben additionally delivered 1-2-1 mentoring sessions, giving expert advice on how to address our upcoming priorities within the framework of our new marketing approach.
Ben’s support has benefitted us greatly, and we would highly recommend working with Grey Fox.
”
So we know there’s no one size fits all approach when it comes to mentoring. We can deliver conversations in-person or online, in a 1-2-1 format or as a group.
We listen rather than lecture, helping you to put your newfound skills into practice straight away.
What are the benefits of having us as a mentor?
Whether you’re new to the communications world, over faced by new ways of doing things or mid-career and in need of a fresh perspective, there are many benefits to having a mentor.
We are often asked to support either a full team, or an individual as part of bigger strategic communications projects. But whatever the format, helping our mentees to see things from different angles and address challenges in new ways, the growth they see personally as well as professionally, is as enriching for them as it is for us.
What would a mentorship offer?
From Further and Higher Education, Health and Social Care to Local Authorities and green sector energy, no matter what area you work in we are here to help rekindle your love for comms.
Putting people first and taking a strengths-based approach, we build our mentoring sessions around your vision and values. By taking a deep dive into what motivates you, your organisation and your audience, we will help you to reconnect with what you do and more importantly why you’re so passionate about it in the first place.
How does a mentorship work?
Based on real life experiences, built over 25 years working in public services, our insight and mentoring advice is taken from the things we’ve learnt along the way, even when sometimes we took the hardest route.
Our approach is about finding real solutions that work for you, in your particular context; sharing challenges and opportunities as well as looking at areas for improvement so we can enable you to navigate complicated structures, cultures and relationships across your organisation and beyond.
It’s not about just imagining (or “manifesting”) something better; it’s about having actionable solutions that you can start using the next day, and for ever.
So, if you’re looking for a mentor who can help you do good, better; just get in touch, we’d love to from you.
